Congratulations Gold Coast on securing the Commonwealth Games for 2018.
This announcement heralds the beginning of a New Chapter for HOCKEY on the Gold Coast. With it comes many opportunities for all our members and the development of our Sport.
With an additional turf set to be constructed and all existing facilities to be upgraded the capacity for us to utilise the centre will increase significantly. This is our opportunity to put our centre and city permanently on the National and International HOCKEY MAP.
The potential for Gold Coast Hockey to host additional major functions and sporting events will help gain greater recognition for all our representative athletes in all age groups. The capacity for the clubs to have greater flexibility with training times, will give welcome relief to an already overburdened schedule. The ability to grow our existing Junior, Summer and Veteran’s Competitions will be made easier by the extra Turf. The potential to re-distribute the games will help us to "cluster" our grades at times that work better for our clubs and members wishes.
And what of our Athletes……. In 2018 it will be our current Under 13 and older players who will potentially represent Australia at these Commonwealth Games. The focus on developing our young athletes remains high on our agenda for the coming years. So please support the initiatives begun this year and let’s make the next few years our best yet for HOCKEY on the GOLD COAST.
Thank you to all our players and members who helped out on "announcement day". The feedback given from the parents whose kids "tried out" our interactive Hockey Field was that they had "never seen their Kids so interested in playing a team sport before"…..Let’s help foster this thought and continue to grow OUR sport.

Presentation will be held at the Gold Coast Hockey Centre from 6.00pm onwards.
Cost will be $30.00 per person.
No tickets at the door. All monies to be paid prior to the night.

Hockey Australia wishes to re-affirm that all HA Competitions, including the AHL will be played under the existing Rules of Hockey 2007-08 until 1st June 2009.
The FIH are yet to draft the proposed new rules and thus Hockey Australia is not in a position to introduce these prior to the official FIH implementation date of 1st June 2009.
There are FIH Executive meetings being held in late February where it is hoped that draft rule changes will be tabled/ discussed, and as soon as Hockey Australia receives any further information this will be communicated to State Associations.
