IT'S SEMI FINAL TIME !!

Congratulations to everyone for a great season of hockey.  You all deserve a pat on the back.  Out of 6 teams, we have 4 going into semi-finals this weekend.  Well done everyone, those are great odds for our little club!

The following are the game times for our teams this weekend.  If you can get along to the hockey centre some time, don't forget to give a big cheer for your favourite team - Yay Sharks!!

It is with great sorrow we mourn the loss of one of Capri's greats - John (Hawley) Hall.

We send our deepest sympathies to John's family at this sad time and would like to advise that Johns funeral will be held on Monday 6th of September at 11.00am.  Venue is Simplicity Funerals at 2140 Gold Coast Hwy , Miami.

John Hall was one of the original Capri (formerly Veterans) club players, who represented the Coast as player and manager over many years.

"Hawley" was well known and well liked within hockey circles and opponents always approached him with great caution (or blind abandonment). He will be sadly missed.

Presentation Dinner

The annual Presentation Dinner of Capri Sharks Hockey Club will be held at Southport Sharks AFL Club on Saturday 28th August, 2010 from 6.30pm. 

DIV 2 WOMEN GAME RE-SCHEDULED
24 July, 2010

The Div 2 ladies are not playing this Sunday 25th July due to their game being re-scheduled.  Further details will be forthcoming.  Training this week will be as usual 7pm on Wednesday night (28 July).

END OF SEASON JUNIOR CARNIVAL DAY

Hi Everyone

This Saturday is unfortunately our last day together (24^th July) but, we are in for a GREAT CELEBRATION!!!

 Here is a very simple proposed program schedule for Saturday:-

 9.00   -   9.15am       Introduction and team allocations

9.15   - 10.00am       Modified matches (GCHA turf) –

Everyone gets to play on the Turf!! Woo HOO!!

10.00 - 12 midday    Free time and activities (GCHA GRASS) –

Face painting, jumping castle, sand designing and much more!!

We are asking that everyone be there at 8.50am!!

We also ask that everyone brings a plate of food or fruit or chips or cake etc to share with everyone. Please make sure you are wearing your Capri Club Team shirt – white shirt (please bring a spare shirt so I can collect the club shirts after the games).  Don’t forget your hats and drink bottles.

All children will be receiving a special reward from GCHA and an even more special award from Capri.

So make sure you bring your camera. And invite your family and friends.  The day has been advertised on Sea FM, so if your children have friends that may be interested in trying hockey, they are welcome to come along for the day. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.  I look forward to seeing you all this weekend.

DIV 1 MEN UNLUCKY
19 July, 2010

Our Div 1 men were unable to capitalise their chances and were beaten 2-1 by Waratahs in the JH Williams Intercity final yesterday.

Shaun Hogan commented "It was a close game.  We had our chances though". 

Never mind boys, we will get 'em next year.

Congratulations and best of luck for the remainder of the season.  The men are currently sitting 3rd on the Gold Coast competition ladder - 6 points off first spot.

GENERAL MEETING
15 July, 2010

There is a general meeting being held on Monday 19th July, 2010 in the meeting room (downstairs) at GCHA. 

The meeting will commence at 6.30pm for Junior business and from 7.30pm for Senior business.

All members are invited to attend and we look forward to seeing you there.

DIV 1 MEN SET UP FINALS SHOWDOWN

Our Div 1 Men have won their semi-final match against Burleigh in the JH Williams Intercity Comp on Sunday to set up a finals showdown with Waratahs.  The match went into extra time with Capri coming out victors with a 2-1 win.

The finals will be held at Murwillumbah on Sunday 18th July commencing at 2pm, so if you are able to get down there to cheer on the boys, it would be appreciated.

Or Div 1 Men have their semi-final against Burleigh in the JH Williams Intercity comp this Sunday at 2.30pm at Musgrave.

So come along and cheer on your favourite hockey team.

Capri will be holding a Club Day on Sunday 4th July, 2010 at the GCHA grounds. 

We ask that all members come along and support your Div 1 Men and Div 2 Men and Womens teams. 

We aim to use this day as a fundraiser and support from all members is appreciated.

Welcome to the Capri Sharks Hockey Club

Hi All,

Welcome to the 2010 season of hockey!  Capri is gearing up for another great year with 6 mens teams and 2 womens teams proposed for this year.

We are also very pleased to announce that we are getting our Juniors off the ground again with the introduction of the "Little Hackers" and the "Junior Development" Programs.  "Little Hackers" is aimed at the 4 - 6 year olds and for the 7 - 9 year olds we have our "Junior Development" program.  Both programs will run for 12 weeks starting after Easter, and all new players will receive a shirt, hat, hockey stick, shinnies and ball as part of their sign-on kit.  For further information please contact Tracey Hollis on juniors@caprisharks.com.au.

Training has commenced with the men training Tuesday nights from 7.30pm - 8.30pm and the women training Wednesday nights from 7pm - 8pm.  All are welcome to come along and have a hit.  For further information about the mens teams please contact Shaun Hogan on info@caprisharks.com.au and for the women, contact Sally Anderson on secretary@caprisharks.com.au.

This year also welcomes the introduction of the Mens and Womens Vets Comp.  Anyone wishing to play vets this season, please contact Stephen Dodd on info@caprisharks.com.au.

Competition hits off this weekend the 13th / 14th March.  We wish all our teams the greatest success for the 2010 season.
